Structure & Working Principle

SHUNTEC steel rule dies are built for durability and precision. Each die consists of the following core components:

  • Key Components

    • Steel Blades: Custom-bent steel rules (2pt–8pt) with ±0.05 mm accuracy and optional edge types.
    • Die Base: High-density plywood or acrylic base, laser-cut for precise blade fitting.
    • Ejection Foam: Rubber pads around the blades automatically push out cut parts to improve speed and prevent jams.
    • Bridges: Structural supports that hold complex blade paths firmly in place.
  • How It Works

The steel rule die is mounted on a clicker press or flatbed cutting machine. Once the material—such as foam, rubber, or film—is placed beneath the die, the machine applies downward pressure, forcing the blades to cut through cleanly and accurately.

After each stroke, the ejection foam around the blades helps release the cut part instantly, preventing jams and enabling smooth, continuous production. This method ensures speed, consistency, and minimal material waste.

Why Choose SHUNTEC

At SHUNTEC, we do more than just manufacture steel rule dies — we deliver reliability, precision, and partnership.

  • Precision Matters

Cutting tolerance up to ±0.05 mm, ideal for high-accuracy applications like electronics, foam gaskets, and PET insulation films.
  • 100% Custom-Made

From die size to blade geometry, every tool is built to your exact drawing or sample — including multi-layer, multi-cavity, and difficult-to-cut materials.
  • Fast Turnaround

Rapid prototyping in 2–3 days, and production-ready dies within 5–7 working days.
  • Export-Ready & Multilingual Support

We ship worldwide with proper packaging and documentation. Our team supports both English and Chinese communication, and provides material reports if needed.
  • Consistent Quality

Each die is quality-checked before shipment and optimized for extended tool life — typically 5,000 to 20,000 strokes, with reinforced options available for higher output needs.

Typical Use Scenarios

SHUNTEC steel rule dies are trusted by manufacturers in diverse industries to streamline cutting processes, improve accuracy, and lower production costs.

  • Foam Packaging Inserts for Electronics

A packaging supplier needs to cut EVA foam sheets into precise cavities that hold fragile electronic components. SHUNTEC provides a multi-cavity steel rule die with clean-edge blades and high-rebound ejection foam to enable fast, clean, and repeatable cuts on a flatbed die cutter.

  • Automotive Door Seal Cutting

An automotive interior parts factory requires precision-cut rubber seal gaskets in high volumes. SHUNTEC delivers reinforced steel rule dies optimized for long lifespan under high pressure, mounted on a hydraulic press. The result: consistent seal profiles with minimal material waste.

  • Medical Adhesive Tape Processing

A medical OEM needs to convert double-sided breathable tapes into custom wound-care shapes. SHUNTEC supplies fine-tolerance dies with center-bevel rules, suitable for thin PET liners and low-force press systems, ensuring clean cut edges without adhesive pull.

  • Leather Cutting for Footwear

A footwear brand seeks to cut synthetic leather into decorative panels for shoes. SHUNTEC creates custom outline dies with sharp blades and anti-stick foam pads, ensuring clean edges and high productivity on clicker presses.

  • You don’t need to adjust your process to fit our dies — we build each die to fit your exact production method, material, and volume.
